Article "Home sweet home" is the phrase which very often enters our mind when we are back home after a tiring day or a business trip. Since home is the very place where we are welcome and safe, where our soul rests peacefully, where we bring up our kids, share our joys and griefs and spend a great part of our life in. Thus, to make our home as comfortable as possible we should be knowledgeable about building materials which we use to redecorate our houses or to build our dream homes.
The most important home building material is surely brick. A variety of brick types for building both structural and veneer walls is known in the modern era.
When it comes to durability and stability, the first building material that crosses our mind is fibre cement. It is a mix of cellulose fibre material, Portland cement, silica sand, water and additives. Fiber cement is best suited for high-moisture areas. Siding sheets are made from wet fiber, sand and cement.
Stucco is mainly used to cover outside and inside walls & for decoration of the background of a wall. Despite of its obvious advantage connected with its low maintenance, stucco has a lot of unfavourable characteristics. Firstly, it is neither stable nor durable. So, any cracks or breaks which appear on the exterior demand to be repaired. Secondly, it is sensitive to humidity and, therefore, unsuitable for using in humid areas.
Timber is another general-purpose building material. It is generally used for siding of outer walls and protects a house from weather conditions. While choosing a building material for siding, it is advisable to consider its appearance, maintenance it will require, insulation value, financial expenses, sensitivity to climatic conditions of your area etc. Consider vinyl, cement, aluminum g or steel for this purpose.
Steel is a generally used building material, since it is well-known for its durability and low maintenance. It is fire-resistant and can be recycled too.
Every home has a roof. The best suited building materials are fiber-cement shingles, wood shakes and asphalt shingles. Fiber-cement shingles are much heavier if compared with asphalt shingles. Nonetheless, the best roofing material is wood shakes due to their well-known insulation.
There are FIVE main types of countertop materials for kitchen counters such as solid surfacing, natural stone, laminate, wood and ceramic tile. Laminate is generally viewed to be the top option out of the five.
Keep in mind that choosing suitable building materials for your home insures that your home will be comfortable and pleasant to live in and will need (which is important!) less maintenance.
